Greece

We are back from our summer holiday in Greece, we went sailing with DHs parents, whom have a sailboat. As you can see, the weather was great.

Last year we saw Dolphins, but this year thay really came close to the boat, and they were big... Much bigger than I ever thought .

 

We rented a car and discovered Corfu and found some really nice places, beaches.

 

And offcourse son #3 turned six during the holiday. He wanted a cake, so we went to local bakery, but they didnt have any, so we went to search for a plain cake... And we found some. So he had a great birthday on the boat.

 

In one of the harbors, there was a cat family, mum with three kittens. They were really hungry, so after feeding the table scraps, son # 1 went fishing for the kittens and he caught 23 fishes... Those by the time we left the next morning, the kittens and mum were well fed.

 

We had great weather, but on our way back from the Mainland to Corfu, we encountered a storm, so it was quite the trip back.

But all well, that ends well, so we had a great day at the swimming pool on our last day in Greece. Great holiday, sun, sea, great food, we had a wonderful time.

Back home

After a relaxing holiday in Italy with nice warm weather, sea and very nice food, we are back home, safe and sound.
We left Italy on Saturday morning and went in the direction of Austria to go over the Plockenpass where we crossed the border. We let the kids hplay in a local playground and got some lunch before we went in the direction of Germany, were we spent the night in Ingolstadt, yes, the city were everybody drives an Audi... oh, offcourse, this is the city were they AUdi factory is located.
The old city, where we stayed in a gasthof is very nice and is located next to the Donau, so we had a nice walk and diner before we had a good night rest.
The next morning we left for Koblenz, where we would meet up with DH´s parents, so we had lunch together and then drove off in the direction of Holland where we had to pick up DH´ car at work and then off to our place. So we were back home around 16.30 and I have been doing laundry ever since...

What not to do in Venice and In memoriam Green little rabbit

Let´s start with the sad news that Beesie is no longer with us. Ruben lost him in Venice. We walked the whole route we took back but we couldn´t find him. So helas, he is gone...
So that brings me to #1 of things not to do in venice: take your kids favourite stuffed animal with you...

We visited Venice by taking a boat here in Sottomarina that took us straight up to Venice San Marco square.

It was still the way I remembered, but for DH and the kids it was the first time. So that is me at the Rialto bridge...

So #2 on my list, don´t visit Venice with 3 boys under 7 in Auhust when it is very busy and hot... and they don´t like historic buildings, but who does when he is 6?

#3: don´t have a drink on a terrace, even if it is a long way from San Marco square, it will free you of 30 euros for 4 drinks...

#4: don´t have pasta with meat sauce when you still want your kids to look like civilised kids...

But even with the loss of the wee rabbit and the warm weather and the kids getting tired of all the walking, Venice is a wonderful city, that we will visit again... just DH and I, :-)

Lunch was not expensice as all the webentries indicated, so that was great and it was very nice, the gelatti was marvellous and the handbags gorgeous, so I engulged myself and bought two leather handbags. Yes, I now, but I think they were both calling my name.

We´re back

We are back from our summer holiday to Spain. The castle was our first B&B were we stayed on our way to Spain. The boys had a bedroom in the tower, so they were verey pleased with sleeping in a real castle.

We didn´t do that much during our holiday. We stayed near the beach at the Costa Brava, so the first week, we spent most of our time between lying on the beach, swimming in sea or in the swimming pool.


The second week we did some trips to different locations that are of interest. So we also paid a visit to Empuriabrava, which is called the Venice of Spain, with 34 km of canals... We rented an eco-boat and made a trip through the canals. Great fun also for the kids.

Although we had a great trip, personally it was too hot for me in Spain, so next time we go in a different month or in a airconditioned space, I don´t care, but August was too hot. I didn´t even get to do some crafts, also not because there was too much dust everywhere...

When we drove home from one of our boat trips, we passed a field where a lot of people where waiting for something, so we parked the car and took the kids with us. Afterwards, we realised that there were no small children there, but that is hindside.
When we got to the fence, there was nothing until they opened the door of a cattle trailer and this bull emerged.
And guess what... within a minute he broke through the fence, luckily on teh other side and a lot of people jumpedon the bull and the managed to get it back within the fence, but then we realized that is was more dangerous than we thought...
But the boys loved the bull and the sight of guys running away from the bull, boys... I think it was Jim Carrey that said ´ if it doesn´t kill you, it is hilarious´ , I am starting to believe, men think like that.

But as you can see, the kids loved it and we are happy to be back home with all the home comforts and crafts, LOL.
