Weekend

As you can see we had a busy but lazy weekend. On Sunday we had a big party at friends. They had all sorts of entertainment for the kids and even someone that did mak-up, well as you can see, they are ready for the World Championship Soccer... DH was very proud...

Yesterday we spent the day at the beach. The weather was not great, but OK, it was warm, but not very... But we stayed at the beach, even if it was cloudy.

When we decided it was enough, we left the beach, and he moment we arrived at the car, it started raining.
The boys were done for:

Premiere How to train your dragon 2

This morning was the premiere of How to train your dragon 2 in Antwerp, and they predicted so so weather last week, so I bought tickets. It turned out that the weather is great, but OK, we had to be in the cinema at 9.30, so that was early... There were some VIP´s, I guess the actors that did the voices in Flemish???
OK, we didn´t wait for them, so we just went to see the movie. Fn movies, a bit scarry for son #3, but fun to watch.

Gridlock

Gridlock: A state of severe road congestion arising when continuous queues of vehicles block an entire network of intersecting streets, bringing traffic in all directions to a complete standstill; a traffic jam of this kind.

Well, I can guess you can call this gridlock. An accident with a truck (which lost his load of gravel...)happened earlier this afternoon and the whole of Antwerp came to a stand still. The truck blocked all 4 lanes and so everybody tries to find alternative routes, which is why the harbor is also stuck, at this moment, 3 hours after the accident there is still a delay of 50 minutes if you want to leave the harbor...

weekend

This weekend we had son#2 Lentefeest. So we invited some au pairs over and we had a wonderful diner on Fridaynight with all of them in a delicious chinese restaurant (DK) here in Antwerp.

Saturday was the big day and we celebrated son #2 Lentefeest. The weather was really bad, so we had some tents to keep everybody dry, cancelled the inflatable jump castle, etc. But it was a great party, the food was really nice, the cake big enough and the company fine = great party.

Three of our au pairs together, we consider them the daughter we dont have. It was a great reunion.

And this is all of us together:

Today the biggest Lock in the world was open for the public. The Deuganckdoklock will be the biggest in the world and it is in ANtwerp. So we had to visit it with the boys as it was an unique opportunity.

Once you were down on the bottom of the lock, it is quite impressive.

And now, the guest have left, and we are sitting on the couch enjoying some, peace and quite.
It was a great weekend.

Lazy weekend

We had a long weekend in Belgium, due to a public holiday, so we used it to get some Household chores done. The kids cleaned up their playroom. Since I had time I made a meat pie, as the meat needs to be slowly cooked, I only make it when I have time. But what happened? The crust shrunk... It never happend before, strange, but it still tasted delicious.

The weekend also allowed me to finish my first fire fighter helmet (with badge)... 4 more to go. I crochet the hats, but I was still thinking on how to make the badges. But I think they worked out alright.

2 will have fire chief, two fire fighter, and one probie... I really like them, they worked out alright.
And while I ma writing here in my blog, hubbie is playing the piano, it has been ages, but I sure sounds domestic... :-)

Easter weekend

This Easter weekend, we were invited by son #1 godmother to spent the weekend in Germany. We stayed in a hotel with the whoel family and we did some great stuff. She made the weekend all about the boys and we all had a great time. We visited the Eiffel aPark, a park with wild domestic animals. So we first went to feed the bears... Luckily they are 5 meters below you...

Then we took the free fall slide... Well the boys and I did, but my dad (74) also wanted to ride it... Well, I guess his face tells you enough, LOL.

This is a picture when you stand on top of it, it doesnt really look intimidating, but I must admit, it also pull a scream from my troat... :-)

Then we took the roddle bahn to the top of the park and rode it back down. Absolutely great fun. We did it endlessly until the boys asked us to do something else.

We also saw all sorts of domestic wild anlimals, but the boys liked the piglets of the wild boars. We fed them our easter eggs, I never was a fan of hard boiled eggs... now they had a good purpose.

And this afternoon, we arrived back home, we had a lazy afternoon with off course Easter cake...

Fun long weekend... We really had a great time.

Tulip fields

Yes, it is that time of theyear again. The flower fields are blooming, so together with all the tourists we had a look at them. We took all the den Heijer boys with us.

The scent is amazing if you drive through the fields, and as you can see the sights are wonderful.

New York kookboek

Yesterday, I bought this cookbook for myself. It looked nice and the recepies that where mentioned also looked good. So yesterday when I arrived home, it was waiting for me.
It was much bigger than I thought it would be and the recepies inside are amazing, so many things that I ate in NYC are in there and all the recepies seem doable, so I will thry some this weekend. I will definitely try the pecan pie...

Museon

Today we were going to bring son #3 to my PIL, but I decided it would be fun to first visit a museum, so we visited Museon in The Hague. It is sort of a general museum, with all sorts of displays, dinos, human body, sience, nature, etc. And it is very interactive for kids, very handson, so the boys like that sort of museums.

The boys were allowed to take part in a workshop to make a disco robot.  OK, our youngest needed some help, but they all enjoyed it.

The guy that explained everything did it very well and the boys listened, so it all worked out well and they all went jome with a working discobot.

OK, this way it doesnt look like much, but the disk was attached to the brush and when you turn the bot on, it dances on the brush and it has lights...

And here it is, OK, it was to fast to capture on pic, but it looked great. My only though now is... what will they hack next?

And we received news tonight that son # 3 lost his last front tooth...Well lost... he hit it against his toy truck...

Start of the holiday

DH and I planned a day off with a nice breakfast, but it turned out that the kids also had a day off, so we reserved breakfast for all off us and decided to turn the day in a family day. We chose a small restaurant that served breakfast at the Vrijdagmarkt.
This is a market where they sell stuff that was confiscated. It is sold by bidding, and it is fun to watch the proceedings and I wanted to show DH and the kids.

Our oldest asked if he could go out and watch the proceedings... We gave him one euro if he would find something... I was convinced that they wouldnt sell to kids...
Well, look on the pic below to see what he bought with one euro...

In the bag were two pairs of rollerskates, and he is sitting on a small side table... OK, he had fun, we had a laugh, and all of that for one euro.

In the afternoon we went to see the new Lego movie and we finished the day with MacD... So the kids had a great start of their holiday.

Happy birthday to me

Today is my birthday and I was pleasently surpised when I received breakfast in bed from the boys. We were still sleeping when the two youngest shoved a drawing in my still sleeping face and the eldest brought me breakfast: a glass of water and yoghurt with muesli.
So I learned a wise lesson, learn the boys how to make coffee and place the coffee in a place where they can reach it :-)
But as Always, it is the thought that counts and this was a very big surprise. Thanks you boys.
