Twenties party

I promised some more pics of the 20s party, so here they are...

Au pair #1

Au pair #1 came to visit us today. She is starting university in leuven next week and as she was back in the country, she visited us. she brought some great souvenirs for us and we had a great time talking to her, about the past year when she was back home in Russia.

Surströmming

Since we have a swedisch aupair, we endulged ourselves in a local dish. Our aupairs mum was so kind to send us Surströmming, a local delicasse. We were told to open the tin outside, because the odeur that would come out of the can would be undescrible...
So as youc an see, my dad was the brave one and opened the can. I must admit, it was not pleasant, but also not as bad as they made us believe. Lets say that it is a penetrant smell that you get use to...

It turned out to be fermented herring (haring in dutch)... You eat it with mashed potatos, onion, dille, cream fraiche, tomatos and then the Surströmming. The combination is nice, if you are able not to fixate on the smell, it is a nice dish.

The Louise Night

 

Last night I went with a friend to The Louise Night. It was an event where 200 stores in Brussels stayed open until 22.30.
we were a bit late due to traffic, but we visited Delvaux (with Champagne), Armani (Without champagne) and Burberry (again with champagne). Greta ambiance, nice winter collection, say wonderful handbags... an even nicer coat... but we were nice and had a bite to eat at a local vietnamese restaurant, were we were joined by another friend who sells diamant bracelets at Dessange.

40th birthday party

My friend An and I celebrated our 40th birthday together this weekend with a Roaring twenties party. As you can see, everybody in style. I have no picture of An and I, but once I get them, I will show some more pics of the party. We had a blast. Everybody did their best to dress up, so that added to the great atmosphere.
Fun party, great friends who helped very much and who I want to thank very much, I guess you know who you are, you helped in the kitchen, bar, music, cosmetics, made pics, etc... Thank you so much, you made our party.
And offcourse I also want to thank all our guests, who with their presence made the party come to life.

Belated birthday party son #3

Today we celebrated son#3 s birthday, I know it is a bit late, but there were just too many birthdays at the end of the last schoolyear. So he invited 12 kids and we had a great time at Jobland.

 
He enjoyed all the attention and he was very happy with all of his presents. The kids all were very nice and had a good time.

Back to school

 

The boys went back to school this week and I started a new job. It was a week of beginnings... DH started a French course, son #3 started Jiu jitsu, and will start swimming lessons tomorrow.

And I, I started University today. And you know that you are getting old, when a student asks you if you are werking as a staff member... No, I am a student myself... But it was fun and very interesting.

 

A friend of mine went on holiday in Denmark and brought me this danish design cup as a gift. I think it is a great cup and as you can see, it is already in use.
For the boys and DH she brought Legos as they visited Legoland... The all loved their gift, so thank you very much for the wonderful gifts.
Have been busy with a surpise quilt and what has been keeping us busy is our au pair who was taken to hospital this week with an inflamened appendix. Luckily she is doing well, so we hope she can come home soon.
